Adults with autism who live in the communities participate in daily activities of home maintenance, such as cleaning, cooking, landscaping, and once or twice a week, together with the support staff, they go grocery shopping for their meals.
Quality leisure activities are organized according to individual abilities and needs. Creative workshops in the form of art and music workshops and workshops of production of various functional objects are held by an occupational therapist in cooperation with educational rehabilitator and creative arts associates. Local elementary school gave us the opportunity to freely use the school sports hall, so the adults with autism living in the communities have the opportunity to exercise and use recreational resources of local community.
In the spring of 2011 Autism Association Zagreb arranged the garden in the rural area community. Products for this garden supply the communities with food for one part of the year. This is one of the ways that our community-based housing programme is held sustainable.
Those who are included in the community-based housing programme participate in the life of the local community. During holidays and other festive days, adults with autism participate in fairs in the local community with the products they created within the creative workshops.
